Gong Meditation in the Peak District

Hi, I’m Clare Savory — Musician, Sound Therapist, Story Teller

Sound has always shaped my life, from BBC radio studios to remote Peak District chapels.

Today, I use it to help others find stillness, clarity, and calm.

My Journey From Music Lover to Sound Therapist

My love of sound began at the age of six when my parents bought me a red recorder — I immediately went to my bedroom and learnt how to play it in just one hour! I grew up spending hours in the music room at school, playing with all the instruments so I could develop my talent and skill in a safe and supportive space.

It wasn’t just a hobby for me. I’ve since realised that music became my language during some difficult years as a teenager, and it often helped me when I had no vocabulary to express my feelings.

From Curiosity to a Calling

What began as curiosity quickly became a calling, so I trained as a sound therapist with the British Academy of Sound Therapy and graduated with a diploma in Group Sound Therapy in 2024. My passion for neuroscience — and the solid scientific evidence supporting the benefits of sound therapy — was the driving force behind launching my business, Feeling Sound.

I know what it’s like to feel lost and disconnected from your own body. Sound baths helped me heal — not through words, but through vibration, frequency, and stillness. Now, I help others who might also be struggling with the constant demands of modern life do the same.

A Chance Encounter

It wasn’t until a chance encounter on my honeymoon in 2021 — during a time of deep grief after my first pregnancy loss — that I truly discovered the healing power of sound.

At the time, I was also navigating the quiet but heavy weight of anxiety, depression, and years of battling addiction. Sobriety had become a turning point in my life, and sound soon became another.

I began to notice how calm, ambient music softened the noise in my mind and eased the tension in my body. Without even realising it, I had been soothing my nervous system through sound.

That moment sparked something in me — a need to understand why it worked and how I could use it to help others find the same sense of peace and clarity I was beginning to discover.

My gong meditation sessions are:

  • Grounded in science

  • Welcoming to all genders and ages (14+)

  • Accessible, still, and respectful of personal space

  • Rooted in nature, reflecting life’s natural rhythms

Whether you're grieving, stressed, or exhausted, you’re welcome here.

This is your time to reset — no guilt, no pressure. Self-care isn’t a luxury — it’s a necessity. Let’s use sound to help you rest, restore, and reconnect.

Clare created a safe space, it felt much calmer and more relaxed than other sound events I’ve attended. This allowed me to understand what was going on yet trust enough to let go.
