How Do Sound Baths Work?

Feeling Sound’s sound baths are based on the widely recognised British Academy of Sound Therapy (BAST) method.

These soothing sessions use a variety of therapeutic sound techniques and instruments, including Himalayan singing bowls, crystal singing bowls, gongs, and percussion.

Book your spot, take your place on the mat, then close your eyes and let sound wash over you as you drift into a deep meditative state of rest.

Prices begin at £12 with discounted passes available.

The Most Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) About Sound Baths

Booking Queries

  • Booking couldn’t be easier! Simply select the session you want to attend and pay online using Visa, Mastercard, or American Express.

  • My sessions last one hour and 15 minutes, and prices begin at £12. I also offer discounted class passes for blocks of three or six classes. Find out more about upcoming sessions and book your space.

  • Refunds are not provided.

However, I know that life sometimes has other plans, so if you can’t attend a class, you can transfer your booking to an alternative date, provided you get in touch at least 24 hours before the class starts.

  • I do!

Sound baths are an excellent activity for zen dos, corporate retreats, charity wellbeing events, and special occasions.

Contact me with your ideal dates and estimated group numbers, and I’ll get right back to you with options and prices.

What To Expect

  • At the beginning of the session, I’ll invite you to lie down on a yoga mat, make yourself comfy, and close your eyes. I’ll then create a series of sounds with a selection of instruments designed to create calming sensations in the body.

During the session, you’ll remain lying down on the yoga mat. You might even relax so much that you doze off, which isn’t a problem and is nothing to be embarrassed about.

If you aren’t able to lie down or prefer not to, contact me before booking so we can chat about alternative options like bringing along a chair.

  • First and foremost, you won’t get wet in a sound bath, so there’s no need to bring your swimmers!

The short answer is… whatever you like!

The comfier and cosier the clothing, the better, so choose something you’d have a nap in. Yoga mats, padded mats, blankets, bolsters, and pillows are provided, but feel free to bring your own if you’d prefer.

  • Everyone’s experience of sound baths is unique, but most people can expect to feel calm, relaxed, and restored afterwards.

You may notice your ‘busy brain chatter’ being a little quieter, like you have a new sense of peace. Some people find that sound baths bring up joyful feelings, while others may find themselves releasing sadness and anger.

It’s possible that you’ll feel teary and emotional afterwards, but it’s nothing to worry about — it simply means you’re letting those emotions go!

Other Questions

  • Not at all! There isn’t any physical activity during sound baths, so they’re suitable for any fitness level.

During the session, you’ll lie on the ground, but chairs can be provided if you aren’t able to do so.

Please feel free to contact me in advance with any questions about accessibility or special requirements.

  • Sound baths are suitable for most people, but are not recommended for pregnant people in their first trimester, people with pacemakers, and anyone with severe mental health disorders.

Please get in touch before booking a class if you have any of the following conditions, so I can ensure you’re well taken care of during the session:

    • Epilepsy or any seizures

    • Anxiety, depression, PTSD

    • A recent surgery

    • Prone to anaphylaxis or require any life-saving medication

    • Metal implants

    • Extra support with your mobility

It’s completely normal to have questions before attending your first sound bath session, and I’m here to answer them all for you. Send me an email, a DM on Instagram, or pop me a note via the contact form and I’ll get right back to you.

Meet Clare, Feeling Sound’s Founder

Sound has been a big part of me since I was little — it’s been a source of pleasure, grounding strength, and profound healing throughout my life.

Over time, my deepening curiosity became a calling, and I’ve gathered 20 years of experience and multiple qualifications in the world of sound.

Sound therapy has changed my life, and my own personal experiences have shaped the way I hold space for those who attend my sessions. There’s a place here waiting for you, wherever you are on your journey.
